Fernando Susegan

Fernando advises developers, lenders, investors, and other participants in the financing and development of renewable energy and infrastructure projects. His experience spans debt and tax equity financings, project development and complex commercial arrangements across the renewable energy sector.
Fernando has worked on utility-scale and distributed solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects throughout the United States. His financing experience includes construction and term debt facilities, back-leverage financings, sale-leaseback transactions and other structured project financings. He also has significant experience with the project agreements underlying those financings, including power purchase and renewable energy credit agreements, EPC and equipment supply agreements, interconnection agreements, O&M agreements, and related collateral and security arrangements.
Having worked closely with both financing parties and project companies, Fernando brings a practical understanding of how financing terms interact with the commercial and operational requirements of a project. He has also spent time seconded to the project finance group of a major international bank, giving him additional perspective on how lenders evaluate, structure and execute renewable energy transactions.
Prior to joining Clean Energy Counsel, Fernando practiced in the energy and infrastructure groups of major firms. His practice has included domestic and cross-border transactions, and his Brazilian background gives him a particular interest in renewable energy and infrastructure matters involving Latin America. A native of Brazil, he speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish. Outside of work, Fernando enjoys traveling, sports, spending time outdoors, and exploring new cities.
