Asher Mitchell
Attorney
Asher’s tax practice focuses on helping developers and investors navigate the tax qualification and compliance requirements applicable to clean energy project development and financing. Drawing on his tax and corporate experience, Asher approaches complex tax questions with an eye toward practical solutions that work within the broader transaction. He works with clients throughout the development and financing process to identify tax issues, evaluate risk, and help structure transactions to achieve their commercial objectives.
Before joining Clean Energy Counsel, Asher represented institutional investors in renewable energy tax credit transactions at a boutique tax credit firm. Earlier in his career, he practiced tax controversy and litigation with the Internal Revenue Service Office of Chief Counsel and represented clients in corporate and M&A transactions at a large firm in Kansas City. His experience on both the tax side and deal side of transactions informs his practical approach to helping clients navigate the evolving clean energy tax landscape.
Outside of work, Asher enjoys running, cheering for Ole Miss, playing the saxophone, and spending time with his wife, Melissa, their son, Merrick, and their two Westies, Crisco and Canola.
