Martin W. Gitlin
Attorney

For over 30 years, Martin has helped clients across the globe manage the paradigm-shifting transition in the energy economy. He’s worked to move us from fossil-dependent, dirty forms of energy to more sustainable, efficient, and cleaner sources. Since combined-cycle gas turbines replaced coal and fuel-oil-fired generation in the early 1990s all the way to today’s focus on renewable energy sources, including solar, waste-to-energy, and fuel cells, this has been Martin’s focus.

In the mid-2000s, Martin served as Chief Legal Officer of the pioneer developer of greenhouse gas emission reduction offsets under the Kyoto Protocol. He followed this role with a stint on the commercial side, managing the North American carbon credits book for a major international trading company. Martin advises clients on a broad range of finance and transactional matters related to energy projects, with particular emphasis on upstream finance for consumer and commercial solar and energy efficiency financings, including Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing, warehouse credit facilities, forward purchase agreements, and capital markets transactions. He also represents developers and acquirers of renewable energy projects in all aspects of project development and finance.

When he is not working, Martin enjoys camping, listening to and playing bluegrass music, and making his own maple syrup.
