Jacob Reed
Attorney

Jacob has spent almost twenty years working in public service and development finance. After a decade in national security and foreign policy, he transitioned into project finance as the most effective way to combine his legal and technical expertise to make a positive impact for the planet and for developing communities.

In his prior in-house and law firm roles, Jacob has led renewable energy projects on every continent except Antarctica. He advises lenders, investors, borrowers and other asset owners on a variety of debt and equity financings. He also has extensive experience on project development and structuring, including underlying offtake and construction agreements.

Immediately prior to joining the Clean Energy Counsel team, he served as an assistant general counsel at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation. He managed complex transactions across numerous sectors around the world, including greenfield projects, corporate loans, political risk insurance, bonds and guarantees. He has also helped his clients transition through critical market shifts, such as the transition from LIBOR and major legislative changes that substantially change how clients negotiate and document their transactions.

When not working, Jacob is most often found reading, chasing around his two young children, or taking his dog for a run on the trails near his house.
