Brad DeJean
Partner

Brad has devoted his career to facilitating a sustainable-energy future. He believes the work Clean Energy Counsel does for its clients is essential to creating a brighter future for his children and for future generations.

To Clean Energy Counsel, Brad brings decades of experience advising developers, investors, and lenders across a broad range of renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure projects. He has significant expertise in negotiating and advising clients on debt and equity project financing structures. He also has extensive project development experience and is skilled at helping clients manage and navigate risk throughout the full project development lifecycle.

Brad was previously a partner at two prominent AmLaw 100 law firms, where he represented many of the renewable energy industry’s leading companies. He served as associate general counsel of BrightSource Energy, where he represented the company on all its U.S. and international project development and financing activities. As in-house counsel, Brad learned how wide the gap can be between what clients need and what outside counsel typically wants to provide. As a BigLaw partner, he struggled against the inefficiencies of the traditional law firm model. Those firsthand experiences guided the creation of Clean Energy Counsel, a firm designed from the ground up to provide the industry focused expertise and responsive service needed to get projects developed, financed, and built.

When Brad is not at his desk, he enjoys travel, nature, playing sports, and spending time with his wife and two children.
