Brad Alexander
Attorney

With over a decade of experience in project finance both domestically and abroad, Brad brings a pragmatic, business-focused approach to structuring and negotiating complex contracts for clean energy projects.  Drawing on his background as both outside and in-house counsel, he excels at identifying practical solutions that help developers and owners navigate challenges and achieve their business objectives.

Brad began his career in project finance advising borrowers and sponsors on utility-scale infrastructure projects across Asia, with a particular focus on increasing generation capacity for developing countries in Southeast Asia.  Since returning to the United States, he has focused exclusively on renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure.

Prior to joining Clean Energy Counsel, Brad served as in-house counsel at a leading sustainable investment and operating company, where he was the legal lead for project development and operations while also supporting the company's investment, financing, and M&A activities.  Previously, he worked at international law firms in the US and Asia, advising on transactions spanning more than 4 gigawatts of generation capacity across Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America.  Brad's experience encompasses project development, project finance, equity structuring, project contracts, and project and portfolio M&A.

Beyond his legal practice, Brad serves on the Board of Potential Energy, a non-profit providing cleaner-burning, more efficient cookstoves to refugees and displaced persons in Africa. Outside of work, Brad enjoys biking, skiing, traveling, and spending time outdoors with his family and their dog at San Francisco's parks and trails.
