Formerly a lawyer in Milbank Tweed’s project finance group and in-house at SunEdison, Peter has represented developers, lenders, and investors on renewable energy and infrastructure projects around the world in a wide range of legal environments.
Many of Peter’s projects have been first-of-their-kind facilities in the jurisdictions where they were built. While at SunEdison, he served as lead lawyer for the company’s involvement in the first round of Malaysia’s feed-in-tariff program, developing and financing a 19MW solar facility at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, at the time the largest solar installation at any airport in the world. He also negotiated the development and financing of SunEdison’s solar facility in Dunhuang, Gansu Province, China, the first American-owned utility-scale solar plant to achieve commercial operation in China. Beyond the legal, technical, and financial expertise typically required for energy project finance, projects such as these required mastering ambiguous regulatory environments and building consensus among multiple, often conflicting stakeholders.
In addition to renewable energy project finance and development, Peter has advised clients on mergers and acquisitions, leveraged financing, cross-border commercial contracts, and joint venture agreements in a wide range of industries.
Peter has also served as co-founder of the legal technology software company Winnieware LLC and brings to Clean Energy Counsel his experience harnessing technology to optimize lawyers’ judgment and effectiveness while reducing costs to clients.
